Now That I Have It in My Hands

Initial Observations

The machine was delivered well packed in generic packaging.
There were no manuals or other materials.

Unfortunately the disk drive doors were left closed during the transport, this is known to potentially cause damage to the drive heads.

Initial Inspection

Since the power supply on this is original and is of the era of exploding capacitors, just a visual inspection was taken.

The one obvious fault is that the escape key is missing, however it is not just the key cap but also the key switch that is broken.

Next Steps

Repair and Restoration Plan

  • - Recap the PSU or replace with modern alternative
  • - Replace the Escape key & Key switch
  • - Test and calibrate the floppy disk drives

Goals

  • - Upgrade the video out to VGA or HDMI
  • - Compact flash Memory HDD
  • - Networking and getting the machine on the internet

Challenges

The age of the machine, this is the oldest machine I currently own, spares are very likely going to be hard to come by.

Wishlist

  • - Original manual set
  • - Original packaging
